What does it mean?

QFD is many things. not different but can be explained differently and there are different usage. It is used in strategic planning and strategic management. Its use is in wide variety of areas. It is used to identify competitive marketing strategies and tactics. It is a key practice of Six Sigma. Other names used are voice of customer, matrix product planning, customer product planning etc.

QFD in SixSigma is used in the define stage of DMAIC to:

    • gather customer requirements

    • prioritize requirements

    • transform the requirements in to design/process requirements

    • Modular function deployment
